UEFA Cup 2007
For only the second time in the competition's history, a side successfully defended the UEFA Cup, with Sevilla FC matching Real Madrid CF's achievement when they won the 1985 and 1986 editions. Having beaten Middlesbrough FC 4-0 in the 2006 final, Juande Ramos' side beat off spirited opposition from Primera División rivals RCD Espanyol to win the final 3-1 on penalties following a breathless 2-2 draw at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
The City of Manchester Stadium will stage the 2007/08 UEFA Cup final on 14 May.

The British & Scottish Open Championship
Scotland is where the game began some 600 years ago.
The three qualifying rounds of the Dunhill Links Championship are played over three separate courses: St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. The cut is then made for the fourth round, played at St Andrews. The tournament is unusual in that the field is made up of both professionals and amateurs, many of whom are more famous than the golfers they are playing with. Teams of two comprise one pro and one amateur. The top 60 pros and those tying for 60th place then make the cut for the final day. Two competitions run concurrently, an individual one for the Pros and another for the combined team.
Conceived as a celebration of links golf and replacing the Alfred Dunhill Cup, 2001 was the first year for this new format, and most people deemed it to be a success. The likes of Michael Douglas and Boris Becker have been included in the competing celebrity amateurs, obviously thrilled to be playing alongside the world's top golfers. With total prize money totalling over US$5million, the event is the most lucrative golf event in the UK bar the Open. Dunhill Links Championship
The 137th Open Championship comes to Royal Birkdale on the 17th - 20th July 2008.
This will be the 137th Open and the 9th time the club has hosted what is arguably the greatest golf tournament in the world.
Spectators who want to watch Padraig Harrington defend his Open title at Royal Birkdale next July can buy a season ticket to cover eight days of official practice and Championship play for a discounted price of £180 before the January 31 deadline.
“We are offering a large saving on season tickets purchased before the end of January 2008. The cost at £180 represents a 40 per cent discount when compared to daily admission charges for the four practice days and the four days of competition,” said David Hill, Director of Championships at The R&A.
During the four days of the Championship (July 17-20) a daily ticket will cost £55, with concession tickets available. Under-16s will again be admitted free by applying to The R&A in advance or if accompanied by a responsible adult on the day.

Each year, The Barclays Scottish Open is hosted at Loch Lomond, the event and its venue continuing to grow in stature.
In 1996, Loch Lomond hosted its first annual international European Tour event, just two years after opening its course. The quality of the event was immediately apparent and The Barclays Scottish Open soon became the pre-eminent international tournament on the European Tour, attracting an outstanding field of players from around the world.
The Johnnie Walker Championship 30th August - 2nd September 2007 at Gleneagles is one of the major golf events in the European Tour International Schedule
The Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles has produced a series of outstanding winners since its inception in 1999, including Adam Scott, Paul Casey and Pierre Fulke. Once again this event will be played over the PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus himself back in the late 1980s and which is the venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup.
Marc Warren Wins the Johnnie Walker Championship Marc Warren birdied the second play-off hole to beat England’s Simon Wakefield and give the Scottish public the home victory they craved in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. Warren two-putted from 90 feet for a four after the pair had parred the 18th first time around. To scenes of wild enthusiasm, the Scot claimed his second European Tour success and his first on home soil after he and Wakefield had finished tied on 280, 12 under par
Formerly the Diageo Championship at Gleneagles, the tournament is now in its 9th year and has become one of the most popular events on The Tour.
